@TimothyHolmes Institutional knowledge loss is a huge issue though — and it’s been exacerbated dated by the slash and burn approach to staffing. Organisations which knew how to do things 10 years ago sometimes don’t know it any more - because they’ve lots (fired) all the people who did it.
Our approach to digital journalism is becoming distinctively cyclical: this is probably the third coming of “community is vital to building sustainable businesses” in the 15 years I’ve been working full time in the field.
Could we, y’know, start just accepting these as fundamentals, and build from there, rather than reinventing the wheel every five years?
