@iroughol With the quality of your tweeting of late, it’s hard not to put you in every issue…

@LauraOliver @wblau I don’t think it needs fixing. Sometimes the process of taking that, and winnowing it down, or refining it, makes for much better work. It forces you to really edit yourself, which we’re not always good at in this trade, but which I’ve come to value more as I’ve gotten older.

This post is not about cancel culture.

This post is about how to talk about cancel culture…

(Inspired by the really rather good @Ezraklein podcast on the topic.)

@TVRav Oh, now that’s a huge potential timesink…

@scottdougal Oh, lovely. Thanks.

@pgreenfielduk Thank you!

@phoeb0 Oh, those are great. Thank you.

Hope all’s well with you?

Hey, good and lovely journalism people: what multimedia features have you seen of late that you thought were great? (Or even ones you were involved with…)

Looking for inspirational examples for students. 🙏🏻

My “To Read” folder in Mail is increasingly inaccurately named, too.

The unsub threshold approaches…

@jkspn Safari’s own bookmarking with folders. Things “to-read” go into Pocket or GoodLinks.

@charlotteahenry Did most of mine last night. Doing my daughters’ iPads now, while they’re at school.

Then begins the psychological warfare over upgrading my wife’s devices.

My time for curated newsletters > my time for original reporting newsletters > my time for “here’s what I think” newsletters.

@LizHannaford I await that hallowed time in my own life.

I never reached it with “restauranteur”, even when I was writing about restaurants for a living.

@jkspn I recently rediscovered the joy of bookmarks, and have an evangelist’s passion for them now…

@iroughol Hell, I’m British and I don’t understand either, so… 🤷🏼

The masked FaceID unlock works great on my iPhone running iOS 14.5. A nice little quality-of-life improvements for Apple Watch users.

@Wedge Well, I was wondering a little, as when I did a bunch of research on editorial newsletters and their open rates, some people on major news pubs fed back that they aimed for a 35% to 40% open rate.

@talkingnewmedia Apple have specifically designed them to stop that happening, as I understand it: fastcompany.com/90628073/apple…

The draw-back is that it makes them useless for tracking stolen property — and only useful for lost/misplaced things.

@La_Pope Congratulations!
