“We need somehow to press the reset button, and completely rethink how we see our relationship with the earth. We need to reinvent ourselves as collaborators rather than conquerors.”

@PaulOckenden The latter: typo while posting on the move. Already corrected on the original but that pesky lack of an Twitter edit button: microblog.onemanandhisblog.com/2023/01/21/on-…

Wow. The new micro.blog homepage is a massive improvement.

And here’s Twitterific - a client that has been around for 15 years, and which brought the blue bird and the word “tweet” to Twitter - announcing its demise.

End of an era.

It’s official. Third party Twitter apps are dead. Not a surprise given the events of the last week — but still a spectacularly shitty way to treat developers, some of whom have been working with you for 15 years. 9to5google.com/2023/01/19/twi…

@MBradbrook There’s a notably different tone of response from those in journalism/academia and those in tech… Says a lot about relative incomes.

Yikes. Currently 166 tabs open on my iPad.

@iroughol Oh, I hate hate HATE it when podcasts (or newsletters) that are part of my routine don’t arrive in time.

@JohnONolan Between that and being used as the sound system for our TV, they’ve been in pretty much constant use for five years. For our particular use case, there isn’t much direct competition. And I don’t begrudge a penny I spent on them.

@JohnONolan I can see that. It’s just from my perspective, our HomePods have been some of the most used devices in the house. My daughters, in particular, have grown up being able to summon any song they want in fantastic sound quality, without any need for another device.

@dvpita @JohnONolan Our HomePods are in almost constant use. Family of four, two relatively young daughters. They’re certainly more used than my AirPods.

I just don’t understand why people think £250 for Airpods Pro - single user devices, with a lifespan of a few years - is fine, but £299 for a HomePod, a whole household device that will last half a decade or more, is not.

That’s it. Revue is gone, killed off by the new “management” of Twitter. Once a great service, it never really kept up with the accelerating pace of newsletter evolution. RIP Revue. 🫡 t.co/OEwv8FQoi…
