(Ignore the headline which is alarmingly bad, and completely fails to sell an excellent story.)

I am late to this, but it is an engrossing and angering listen (or read). The core message: the government squandered the time lockdown bought us, because they’re wedded to corporate centralisation, and closed to genuine expert advice.

Infuriating. members.tortoisemedia.com/2020/10/05/201…

This is going to scare people unnecessarily: Covid virus ‘survives for 28 days’ in lab conditions – the ‘lab conditions’ in question include in the dark, because UV destroys the virus. As found in, say, sunlight.

Absolutely stonkingly brilliant issue of @benwhitelaw’s community engagement newsletter today: getrevue.co/profile/everyt… Lots of meaty reads and links in there. Go, check it out. #interhacktives

@yelvington @erika_marzano 100% agreement. In many ways abandoned, unmanaged comments sections are the polar opposite to community engagement. I do think comments can be a useful engagement tool - but they’re not the only one.

Well, I spent longer than usual on that post/newsletter, but I’m happy with the result. I don’t think it’s the same old links in everyone’s newsletters, I think I got my tone of voice back. And I think it’s genuinely useful.

phew

This has genuinely been a recurring problem for me for something like 15 years — I’m at my best when I go my own way. But those little scrabbles of doubt often afflict me, and I end up being vaguely like everyone else. And every time I catch myself doing it, I need to step back.
