The danger of valuing confidence over humility: microblog.onemanandhisblog.com/2020/05/01/the…

Lockdown music for you, from the wonderful @RichardDurrantX and family, making music videos here in shoreham: Morris Dreams - Isolation Week 6 youtu.be/LsoxGqO38Zc

@MollyBergen (You should imagine this conversation as me essentially being a ventriloquist’s dummy for my molecular biologist wife.)

@MollyBergen The studies aren’t actually in conflict. One says that children still carry a viral load. One says that there is no clear evidence of children being major sources of infection. Both can be true. This is such a new virus that we’re in the foothills of understanding it.

@MollyBergen Note: absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. 😉

The last month has forced me to reevaluate Facebook Live and other streaming services. Like too many others, I saw it primarily as a broadcast tool, not an engagement one.

@MollyBergen In the case of SARS-CoV-2, though, they’re struggling to find any evidence of children transmitting it. Literature review here: dontforgetthebubbles.com/evidence-summa…

That’s about as socially distanced as it gets. t.co/55nzvUnNU…

@sofiavictoriad Yes - I’ve noticed that with school class video catch-ups. When they have clear purpose and are well led, they work great. When it’s just a ”hang-out”, it’s chaos. Structure and purpose matter.

Here’s a confession: I was wrong about Facebook Live. And it only took a global pandemic to teach me the error of my ways… onemanandhisblog.com/2020/05/to-bui…

Lockdown skies. microblog.onemanandhisblog.com/2020/05/01/loc…

@JohnONolan There’s a huge difference between Measure -> Do and Do -> Measure. The latter is usually healthier, but dashboards promote the former.

@JohnONolan I’d forgotten all about it. Admittedly, I was excited about it 7 years ago, because I was all about the dashboards then. I’ve learnt a few things in the years since, though, and I’m more wary now. They have a price I hadn’t factored in then.

@JedySays Well, that’s my tentative graffiti theory blown, then.

@JedySays Was that taken in Germany?

@sophiasgaler Yeah, I wonder what kind of half-arsed outfit trained the journalist who wrote that? checks notes goes suddenly quiet

@BethAshton @adlynch @Telegraph I think that The Times has comprehensively proved over the years that having a subscription is no bar to giving a journalist a piece of your mind.

@ptr_yeung @jessicabateman I came across one about Livejournal a while ago - I’ll see if I can find it.,

Has anyone heard anything about the PM’s baby recently? 🤔 t.co/o9nGNOld8…

Lockdown reasons to be cheerful…: microblog.onemanandhisblog.com/2020/04/28/220…

There’s nothing more annoying than someone summing up 30 hours of lectures in one tweet. 🤨😉 twitter.com/mkobach/status…

@Whatleydude I’m finding it cyclical. Some days I can write better than ever. Some days I… can’t. Anxiety can be a creativity killer. But writing eases the anxiety. It’s a daily battle.

@mathewi Rock it old school with a graduation ceremony in Stormwind Cathedral in World of Warcraft.

@lararhiannonw My little daughters have settled on @MrMotivator as their pre-home school exercise guru of choice. We all exercise together to his daily dozen.
