OK. I promised to do some more analysis of current news. Here’s one that I think is important. I don’t think that Spotify buying The Ringer is good news at all. Why? Because Spotify is trying to become podcasting’s gatekeeper. Small thread!
The podcasting boom has been based on its technological underpinnings being an open standard. If we fail to understand and protect that, we end up with another gatekeeper between us and the audience.
