Three questions about the UK’s journalism and social media landscape after the General Election result. onemanandhisblog.com/2019/12/three-…

@p_j_chappell Lots of people are on TV who are irrelevant, happily. But I imagine his presence will start its long-deserved decline.

This. So much this. twitter.com/DBanksy/status…

I think this is an interesting read. To hold the seats they took this election, the Tories will have to operate in a very different way: Boris Johnson’s spectacular win heralds a new form of Toryism blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/12/boris-…

God, there are times when I hate being right.

This really is one of them.

Everyone blames algorithms for creating filter bubbles - but people are way more effective at creating them for themselves.

@masa_kepic @TheGreenParty @CarolineLucas No. Because @TheGreenParty have been fighting the right fight for years, and nothing that’s happened tonight changed that. That fight is far more important than anything else - it’s against an existential threat to human life.

@sofiadmateus @moorehn @JordanWildon @jonathancornick I couldn’t agree with you more. I suspect this is far more of a rejection of Corbynism than an embrace of Boris-ism.

@michaelgoodier You don’t need sleep, do you?

@bigredal That is… quite something.

@corinne_podger @alisongow @JPGJournalism You’ve chosen a really bad time for a thread if you want British journalists to pay attention!

@Ewan starts pricing up housing

@FreddieNathan We’ll make an SEO writer out of you yet, young fella-me-lad.

@Ewan I wonder if growing up in Scotland will be enough to get me a Scottish passport when you leave?

Well, if you’re looking for good news, Nigel Farage just became a complete irrelevance.

While you wait for the election results, here’s some moments of calm from yesterday to help you chillax. t.co/EtSUvkbC8…

@Captain_Razzle @alice_dindar @snowleopardess @jeremycorbyn He’s rather well-known for being shirty to people who disagree with him.

Feeling deeply sorry for Facebook group admins who are not quick on the delete key today. Open warfare kicking of in multiple non-politics related groups.

Tonight I will be staying up for the exit poll and no longer. I want to face whatever tomorrow brings with a full night’s sleep behind me.

Hard to disagree with this. If only he’d been on the ballot… paulrobertlloyd.com/photos/1576102…

@kate_day Which is another good point. All the focus tends to be in paid social, rather than organic.

Toxic: microblog.onemanandhisblog.com/2019/12/12/tox…

@kate_day It does raise questions about the relative effectiveness of online versus on-the-ground campaigning. And I’m not sure anyone knows the answers to that, because so much online cmpaigning is effectively hidden away.

@YodelOnline Thank you. Maybe you can explain why my parcel took a Scottish holiday. I’m actually quite jealous of it. I could do with a break back there right now…

@harriet1marsden We did, actually, (after we took the two seats finally) and I think we were just in awe of her total cheek.
