@M_IsardMcNulty How disappointing.

@M_IsardMcNulty Bringing class to my timeline as normal. :-)

@ellawilksharper @guardian Congratulations!

@JohnONolan The Starbucks element of that is particularly cruel. </coffeesnob>

@thesecond_t I’m a recent convert to that method, but I can’t go back.

@LynWhitfield @charlotteahenry I believe that’s more the mesh apps - Firechat and Bridgefy. They use a short-range bluetooth mesh to cut the internet out entirely.

@kittywenham I admire your current thesis, and shall watch for any supplementary work in the new canon with interest.

@charlotteahenry I will never understand why so many journalists still see a lack of understanding of tech as both humorous and almost a point of pride.

@kittywenham Is this identification in any way altered by the slightly different portrayal of Tink in the Disney Fairies franchise, as inflicted on me at great length by my beloved daughters?

”It appears to me that Medium wants to double as a Reader app in an experiment. This unreleased feature is called “Save to Medium”, similar to how Instapaper works.”

Nope. Uh-uh. Not using that. wongmjane.com/blog/save-to-m…

Having the sort of day where I write what I thought were two thoughtful and useful posts, and the world just shrugs its shoulders at me.

It’s the blogging equivalent of a null result in science.

But it’s that or clickbait…

@baekdal @elanazak This is what I term the “journalism learnt the wrong lesson from blogging” problem.

The drift towards opinion and away from reporting has been problematic from the start.

Thing is, opinion is a LOT cheaper…

Politicians love presenting us with apparently simple solutions to complex problems. It’s where the votes are.

But journalists need to stop aiding and abetting them in this. onemanandhisblog.com/2019/09/the-da…

@baekdal @emilybell I wonder what proportion of YouTube’s viewers ever read the comments, let alone post one?

I’m a naturally pro-comment person, but I almost never read YouTube comments - or even remember that they’re there. The apps - especially on mobile - don’t make them prominent.

@sabinedewitte Thank you!

Does journalism have an understanding problem?

(tl;dr - yes!) onemanandhisblog.com/2019/09/counte…

Since the end of my days as RBI’s head of blogging, I don’t really get much change to spend time fiddling around with the technical stuff at the back end of blogs. Just done some of it today - and it’s quite fun! I missed it.

Now, off to fiddle with some DNS records…

A year or so back I won an XBox One S. What games would you recommend for me, as a very lapsed gamer? What are the real classics on the platform?
