@anaclarapaniago Oh, cool.

Resolved: @segunakinola’s Dr Who theme is the best since the series returned - and may be in the top 3 ever. Don’t @ me.

@chrismsutcliffe @stratechery Addendum: I think one of the most corrosive things in journalism over the last 15 years has been the industry’s adoption of blogging‘s more human tone of voice, but twisting it into opinion, rather than a different writing style.

@chrismsutcliffe @stratechery Yes - and there’s high need for reporting and analysis, but much lower need for opinion. And there’s too many journalists who actually crave being opinion column writers.

@chrismsutcliffe Fact-based, sure. But not necessarily objective. I think it’s reasonable to have a viewpoint - as long as it is rooted in fact, and that you can adapt it when facts change. That’s one reason I subscribe to @stratechery. He’s got a view, but changes it as the known facts change.

@ilicco @jamesrbuk <Insert tenuous hare and the tortoise metaphor here>.

@p_j_chappell Also, infinite eyerolls for two white journalism establishment men ridiculously downplaying @newsbrooke’s role in that. It’s both pathetic and infuriating.

@chrismsutcliffe I need to take more time to read that piece in detail, but that objectivity issue has been waning and rising for about 15 years, since the rise of online. While I basically agree with you, there’s some nuance around what we actually mean by objective.

@p_j_chappell I’m glad it was in that manner. There are other possibilities…

@anaclarapaniago And the video is one of yours?

@anaclarapaniago You doing video shifts there?

@sarahjebner Having spent quite a bit of time in both Changi and Heathrow over the last few years I am quite sceptical about that ordering…

@jamesrbuk (Also, I’m guessing you don’t spend much time in the fashion or parenting worlds where blogging is very much alive and kicking, if slightly terrifying and artificial and “inspirational” at times)

@jamesrbuk Thanks for making me feel like somebody who’s been lost deep in a jungle for five years, still fighting the war he was unaware had ended, @jamesrbuk

The victorious defeat of the open web: microblog.onemanandhisblog.com/2019/02/09/the…

Just tried to explain 70s/80s linear TV to my children, in all its pre-daytime TV, pre-streaming “glory”. They can’t get past the idea it was impossible to pause TV, let alone the rest of it.

God, I feel old.
