My (personal) rules on email analytics:

  • Don’t look for at least an hour after the send
  • Don’t obsess over individual unsubscribes - the reasons people do so are complex
  • Any newsletter where I get to 25% open rate before an unsubscribe is a good day.

Facebook’s long, slow break-up with journalism is underway.

And I, for one, am glad to see this toxic, power imbalance relationship come to an end…
