And there we have it: Elon Musk Moves to End $44 Billion Deal to Buy Twitter nytimes.com/2022/07/08/tec…

@abigailbuchn Congratulations!

I suspect that @charlesarthur is spot on with his analysis of the current state of (no) play on the Musk/Twitter deal: theoverspill.blog/2022/07/08/twi…

@iroughol @verapeneda Hoping to go - but a few things need to line up first.

@callummarius Congratulations, Minister for Transport.

If Johnson hasn’t actually resigned, just announced a future plan to do so, the journalism world - and some of the social teams - need to take a look at what they’ve published, because it doesn’t seem to be accurate.

Talking of great covers - I’m in @cityjournalism today, and finally got to pick up a copy of @xcitymagazine produced by the MA Magazine journalism students - and what a great cover that is… t.co/rhEa8f4GL…

@IainMHepburn I’m just that wee bit older - Press Gang happened while I was at uni.

@IainMHepburn There are so many weeks when I think that. Although - it, Peter Parker and Doctor Who Weekly are between them about 90% of the reason I ended up in journalism.

You know, the vast majority of my career might be in digital these days, but who doesn’t still love a truly great magazine cover? twitter.com/TheEconomist/s…

If you look up “irony” in the dictionary, it’s now just a link to this 2010 column by one Boris Johnson, where he bemoans the fact that Gordon Brown is still holed up in Downing Street, refusing to acknowledge that “the game is up”. telegraph.co.uk/politics/0/gen…

This is Twitter very clearly telling me it’s time to go to bed… t.co/sUu21MHju…

@sofiavictoriad It was a Thing in Apple circles. They unveiled a new Safari design at their big developer conference last summer and the whole Apple community went “this is a terrible idea”. In the end, it was largely abandoned - apart from the url bar move on iPhone.

@sofiavictoriad Settings - Safari is your friend here. Switch to single tab and you get the old behaviour back. t.co/CuquXMS9D…

Is Johnson about to put the Queen in a difficult position — again?

tl;dr: even if the Tory party sacks him as leader, he could continue as Prime Minster - unless the Monarch invites someone else to form a government… davidallengreen.com/2022/07/what-i…

(Although if Gove went with whiskey instead of whisky, well, he deserved what he got…) 🥃

My MP @timloughton doing a better version of the gag I went for earlier. The shame of it. 😉 twitter.com/tamcohen/statu…

@MollyBergen @jopayton I suspect a surprisingly large number of them disappeared the moment that Mr Corbyn was no longer the only other viable option. I think Mr Johnson is pathologically incapable of processing the amount of his “mandate” was actually an anti-Corbyn vote.

I suspect the problem with the traditional Tory approach of the grey suits going to the PM with a (metaphorical) bottle of whisky and a revolver, is that Johnson will take the revolver, shoot the messengers, drink the whisky and attempt to seduce the deceased’s partners.

@a_mascellino @OliverBarsby Know anyone?
