Just spent too long updating and troubleshooting Ubuntu and Node and MySQL and Ghost, but all but one site is now running @Ghost 5.0. The last one is in the hands of an @aspirethemes update…

Finished reading: From the Mull to the Cape by Richard Guise 📚 A pleasant enough read. Entertaining in place, interesting in others. But a few rather ill-judged attempts at humour made me wince. Good enough that I’ll likely read another of his cycling … microblog.onemanandhisblog.com/2022/05/21/fin…

@masa_kepic @liznangel3 And 🤞🏻the field finally gets the research investment it badly needs.

@masa_kepic @liznangel3 The risk shoots up when it’s a novel virus we’ve not seen before. So, a few unlucky souls got hit with post-viral syndromes pre-pandemic (like my late friend), but not enough that it was a serious focus of investigation.

But the pandemic has changed the numbers.

@masa_kepic @liznangel3 My friend who just passed had a long-term heart problem caused by post-viral issues. As best as I understand it form my (immunologist) wife’s dumbed down explanation for me, any infection with a virus causes a risk of an immune system mis-fire. (cont)

I found out today that one of my good university / student magazine buddies passed away some weeks ago. Regretting deeply phone calls not made, chats postponed too long and which will now never happen.

@fionaharvey @horton_official @guardian That she is!

Netflix’s itchy cancellation finger has made me less and less likely to start watching a new series there. Our subscription is safe for now, but it won’t take too many more series abruptly truncated without resolution before it’ll be heading for the chopping block.

I literally did a presentation to the PR and marketing teams of property companies about 15 years ago saying “make sure your damn phone number is on the website”. A decade and a half later, nothing changes… twitter.com/katiebarnfield…

@MarcSettle On the PG front newspaper students get 20 hours of direct instruction on video, Interactive Journalism students about double that.

@MarcSettle I don’t actually know! This is the first year I’ve taught UG as well as PG. I don’t know a lot about the overall three year structure (the downside of being a visiting lecturer rather than a “real” one).

@MarcSettle And that’s kind of scary, because they’re probably only had circa three hours of video instruction at that point.

@horton_official @guardian Chelsea Flower Show AND trespass protests. You really have the best job, don’t you?

@MarcSettle Most of the videos done by our first year UG students would knock that into a cocked hat.
