Currently reading: Nature Cure by Richard Mabey 📚 This is an engrossing read. To write with such honesty and directness about the depression that nearly destroyed his life… Would anyone have this courage now in such a judgemental age? micro.blog/books/97814481…
@kellyfincham I have some notes somewhere about some research along those lines from some years ago. I’ll see if I can dig them out.
I am now procrastinating about going home, because it is a long way. But I need to get on with it.
@mrjohncrowley @theweekjunior What impresses me is that my daughter’s been published in it! #ProudDad

There are only two good choices:
- Don’t have comments on articles
- Have comments but manage them — and management is more than just moderation.
Unless you’re prepared to commit time and resources to the latter, default to the former. twitter.com/fliceverett/st…
@nadialapa No. Sorry for not making that clear.
@nadialapa @jopayton My point exactly!
@nadialapa But I accept that my use of “brigading” as a term might not have been an appropriate choice here.
@nadialapa I was specifically alluding to a well-shared tweet which claimed that Mumsnet was a source of radicalisation - something I don’t believe, incidentally.
@aendra @MattieTK I think you can achieve the same effect through strategic use of lists, without having that stuff shoved in your face every time you open the hell app.
@iroughol @jamesrbuk Good Grief?
I suddenly feel like the most boring journalism lecturer in the world. twitter.com/jopayton/statu…
@iroughol Still regretting the time I mentioned in passing a well-known former comedy writer who was booted off Twitter. I had drive-by hostile mentions from his fans for weeks afterwards.
@joejgoodman @risj_oxford That’s fabulous news!
@iroughol I was thinking “RIP your mentions” until I saw the strategic stars. 👏🏻
@UriBram @leemthompo I use Fastmail for my business email and happy with iCloud (with customer domain now) for my personal.

This is a really good point. twitter.com/BereniceHealey…
@UriBram @leemthompo That feeling doesn’t get me with the on-device stuff, but it does make me feel a bit creeped out with server stuff like email, which is why I left gmail years ago.
@leemthompo @UriBram The Mac stuff is all happening on-device, though. There’s no cloud component, and nobody has that data but your device.
Plus, it’s hella useful, especially when you want to quote from books or magazine.
Print does some things so very well. twitter.com/cbentley_1/sta…
