I’m pretty sure I read this story 15 years ago, except it was Second Life people were getting married in, not the ”metaverse”:

These people are mad. Admirably, impressively mad. But mad.

I know that Johnson and his circle are big fans of Classics, but the more we hear about how they freely violate the rules they set for us, the more clear it seems that they see themselves as patricians and us as plebeians.

I suspect that the new work from home guidance is going to be a pretty nasty blow for the parts of the hospitality industry already most hit by changes in working patterns. CBDs are going to have far fewer pubs and bars when this is over.

@HANNAHSTORM6 Have you been following @datatheism’s writing in public work, as he works on his book? Might provide motivation or a feeling of community.

At last, I threw down my article and smote its ruin upon the mountainside.

I’m off to have a celebratory coffee, while the editor goes to work on it.

13 years ago, taking a film in to be developed already felt antiquated.

@callummarius I think I know exactly where that it - and it’s on my regular route to London.

@EstherKeziaT @DeGrooteMedia Amongst my friends and family it’s up in the 6 in 10 range. But their Facebook usage is nearly zero (I’m the only member of my extended family with a Facebook account…): small sample sizes are prone to quirks.

@EstherKeziaT @DeGrooteMedia It’s worth remembering that the BBC have spent well over a decade educating people in the UK about podcasts in a way that hasn’t happened in other countries. They were consistently putting the message out even during the podcast “lull” of the early 2010s.

I am happy to report that you can now get my witterings from my notebook as a (free) weekly email.

@EstherKeziaT @TheFixMedia I’m both excited and uneasy — I do think we’ll regret it in the medium term if we allow the open, RSS-based nature of podcasting to be eroded by the platforms.

(And paid podcasts can still be delivered by RSS feeds.)
