@EstherKeziaT @TheFixMedia Feeling mildly smug I first floated the idea nearly three years ago… onemanandhisblog.com/2019/01/chinas…

I would like to thank @KuengLucy, @bmorrissey and @Flipping_Pages for validating one of my earlier lectures to the #interhacktives by saying “flight to niche” lots of times.

I think @Flipping_Pages just called NFTs a ponzi scheme… #mediamoments

But he did acknowledge @bmorrissey’s recent newsletter on the topic: therebooting.substack.com/p/why-crypto?u…

The question @EstherKeziaT asked — when do you stop being a publisher, if you acquire other businesses — has been around for a while. Arguably many B2B publishers, like the former Reed Business, ceased being publishers and because data providers years ago. #mediamoments

@SophieWarnes I pronounce it “oh shit”.

Today I’ve just been reminded that the problem with jargon is when you forget it’s jargon…

Interesting point on the shift from generic to specific, though — it’s our old friend the flight to niche. #mediamoments

And there is @bmorrissey using that exact phrase.

Poor @KuengLucy is today’s designated first victim of the dreaded “you’re on mute”… #mediamoments

Interesting: @EstherKeziaT , co-host of the Media Voices podcast, is excited about recent success in paid podcasting – a new revenue stream for media organisations. She named two examples – Empire and Der Spiegel – which had success w… interhacktives.com/?p=10171&previ…

Discount Deals – Do They Work? | @bmorrisey argues that “discount offers” for media subscriptions undermine trust. Over the last week, several organisations have offered $1 deals to draw audiences in. “When you go from th… interhacktives.com/?p=10171&previ…

This could lead to an interesting few months in UK #journalism @Farrah_Storr tempt away from their existing gigs, and onto @SubstackInc…?

But also — what alternative and emerging voices might she support?

Billionaires own 23.5% of the news I interact with… The top three news influencers for @adders are @MarcSettle, @iroughol, @baekdal. Analyzed by @Ground_app #Mediaopoly ground.news/mediaopoly/add…

@bigredal I find this very difficult to understand on a human empathy level. But the last few years have let people display a selfish, self-interested streak in a way that makes me rather depressed about the state of humanity in our country.

@katebevan @dml Sadly, home-schooling primary school children during the two sets of school closures forced us into buying one. So much of the teaching was based on worksheets we had to print out.

Looks like West Sussex schools are cancelling parent attendance at nativity plays and carol concerts, because of fears of rising infection rates (and presumably the #OmicronVariant, although the letter carefully avoids mentioning that.)

UK publishers, @SubstackInc is coming for your star writers and columnists…

@iroughol I have three major strategies: layering, coffee and whisky.

Often, all at the same time.

@MartinBelam @suesspiciousmin To be fair, that would be an instant pre-order from me.
