@iroughol It seems pretty clear that they went all in on social media agencies and teams. It’s probably almost impossible for them to extend their business model to creators without undermining their corporate sales.

@MBradbrook I have something very similar from Anker.

New rule:

Never read any article headlined “We need to talk about…”

@Luciddestiny I finally replaced my X with the iPhone 13Pro, and the camera improvements in those four years are 🤯. The jump in video quality and, in particular, low light, is just stunning.

Apple pretty much chucked away five years of laptop design, and went back to the early 2010s for its new MacBook Pros. #AppleEvent

And that’s great news for most of us…

🔥 Hot off the press: “Engaged Reading Time - Issue #85” engagedreadingtime.com/archive/733319 (via @revue)

@elenacresci You’d think this would get better after 15 years, wouldn’t you? But it never seems to.

@MarcSettle Every year, I stand up in front of students and actually physically clean my lens in front of them.

And every year I have a handful of submissions that are clearly shot with dirty lenses.

@BigTentSocial Like I said in the piece, it’s going to effing smart when I have to attach the dongle to my Mac to connect to City’s lecturing pods on Wednesday…

Well, that was a pretty clear admission that Apple had spend five years going the wrong way with their laptops, wasn’t it? onemanandhisblog.com/2021/10/apples…

@OliverBarsby Well, H2s have always mattered in Google understanding the meaning of the page, but this is a step above that in some cases. I suspect it’s only going to get more important, as Google gets better at paragraph-level linking in search results, though.

Learn to love those subheads

Here’s what’s been happening around SEO and headlines. onemanandhisblog.com/2021/10/writin…

Touch Bar? What Touch Bar? There was never a Touch Bar. #AppleEvent t.co/Eqrv16swa…

Pause, and then leave it five minutes before you go back an unsubscribe.

Think of the vulnerable creative soul you help by that pause. You spare them the very first feedback on their work being a “nah”.

Thank you in advance. 🙏🏻

I’m returning to assuming that I’m a horrible person wasting people’s time with my electronic scribblings, a feeling triggered by someone who was super-swift on the unsub… 😭

People of the internet: I am here to appeal for kindness. Unsubscribing from a creator-driven newsletter immediately an issue arrives might be convenient, but pause and consider the poor soul that’s poured effort into it. ✍️📧

@EstherKeziaT @corinne_podger And I feel the lack of anyone to do that every week.

You’d think I’d be used to it after 18 years, but it still makes me wince every time I spot a typo or a poorly constructed paragraph that made it online.

@Luciddestiny Sorry, no. I only go up on Wednesdays at the moment.

@corinne_podger @EstherKeziaT Or, maybe, for early stage soloists, a small collective who proof read each other’s work.

@EstherKeziaT There are an awful lot of newsletters that would deliver 20% more value if they were 30% shorter.

Us: our parcel is missing. @Hermesparcels: we have left it outside your flat, and here is the photo of it in the corridor outside to prove it. Us: We don’t live in a flat. We live in a house. With our own front door. @Hermesparcels: … Maybe you could fetch it? 🤦🏼

@JoelySantaCruz @saywhatsaywah I’ve spent the last 18 months largely in the company of two primary school children and an, um, petite wife. I am now unused to people of average height and above.

I’m seeking counselling.,

@saywhatsaywah @JoelySantaCruz It was an unexpected delight after a tired but enjoyable day.

And, to be fair I’d had 30 extra hours to get to recognise you thanks to Audience Strategy.
