The text recognition in photos that’s part of iOS15 is pretty damn impressive.

The UK is probably more vulnerable to knock-on effects like this at the moment. Everyone’s supply chains have been stretched by COVID, but we have the Brexit impact to factor in, as well.

It could well be a bumpy few years…

This piece by @eleanormia is a good reminder that supply chains are more complex than we think, and that disruption in one industry can spread to multiple others swiftly. (High energy prices -> beer shortage, for example…). politicshome.com/news/article/w…

Gotta say, shipping the new GoPro in a plastic bag somewhat undermines the “plastic free packaging” messaging… t.co/5TJz8FZfL…

Good reminder from @revue that Apple released #ios15 last night, so open rates on newsletters are about to get funky…

@SarahPilchick Congrats on the jab!

@hannahfearn @DrMagsMaguire (And don’t get me started on class parents’ WhatsApp groups that assume it’s only the Mums in there…)

@hannahfearn @DrMagsMaguire Our primary also defaulted to sending comms to my wife. We had to kick up a bit of a stink about it, because I’m more often the one nearby, so if one of my daughters needs picked up urgently, it’s not much use messaging my wife who is lecturing an hour away…

(Although the joke about still having time to unsubscribe before I write about video tomorrow is less funny when somebody actually does so…)

I’m really leaning into the Dad joke thing right now.

I’m shocked, I tell you. Shocked.

B2B newsletters, pirouettes to video, and why is Substack digging an ever-wider moat? It’s all about the cash, friends, all about the 💶💵💷

Yup. This is a great, simple wee hack for getting usable Zoom interviews. twitter.com/MarcSettle/sta…

It has to be said - @journalismnews looks rather dramatic in the new version of Safari… t.co/cmTMfKxix…

Journo Twitter wants to read about journo Twitter. That’s exactly why I want to write about journo Twitter, because it’s so not healthy… twitter.com/adders/status/…

@SophieWarnes Term starts in two weeks, and I only have a handful of courses before then, so… 🤷🏼

Something I should have worked out 30 years ago:

If someone whose work you like and enjoy turns out to be a complete tosser, let them and their work go. There are many lovely people out there doing great work who deserve your attention and money instead.

Things I’m considering writing. Which should I do first?

The waits have it - just. #iOS15 twitter.com/adders/status/…

@aendra Journalism needs to do more to support talented people staying in craft roles, without feeling pressured to move into management.

So no, not weird. A really good thing.

@jackslack Wow. You’re keeping that old tech working.

Apple-using folks: will you be updating to #iOS15 when it releases this evening?
