@paulwiggins The old one was fine. But the new one is better!

@paulwiggins All three statements in this thread are true. 😉

@corinne_podger @richardkendall I wasn’t really talking about you personally! Just the fact that the industry as a whole doesn’t think about it much (as I see every time I tidy up blog posts from 12 to 15 years ago). And so the specific (and long-established) term isn’t common currency in our field.

@corinne_podger @richardkendall The idea that permalinks should be, well perma(nent) is not well embedded in news publishing globally. (With some very honourable exceptions).

@corinne_podger @richardkendall I find it interesting that someone so deep in digital journalism hasn’t encountered that term. It’s been in common use in web circles for decades, but the fact that it’s not common in journalism circles is… telling.

@PaulOckenden Exactly why I haven’t bought one so far. Not that it stops people flying them on the Beach and up the Adur.

Watching last week’s Countryfile has me thinking about drones again. There’s some fantastic drone-driven storytelling shots, rather than the normal eye-candy.

Now, that’s better. t.co/LvK4gVi2Q…

I know I should move on from being annoyed when people use “blog” when they mean “blog post”.

But I’m finding it really, really hard.

@catherinecooper Done!

@Flipping_Pages They’re for 20-somethings in shared accommodation to put their laptops on, surely?

@kate_day Congratulations on the 💉!

And, my God, I remember that stage, and am glad I’m past it. It does pass! I am capable of sitting down for 10 minutes without my eyes drooping again.

There is not enough side-eye in the world for this: Google revives RSS.

Dear Substack writers,

Crossheads massively enhance the readability of your precious multi-thousand word hot takes. They are fully supported by the CMS. Please use them.

I’m now going to ruin your Twitter experience for the day.

A statement: Humans are status-seeking primates.

As you read on through your feed, think who embodies that statement, and who transcends it.

@Ratshag I pretty much always refer to my wife as “Dr T” (PhD in immunology). Hurrah for super-educated partners!
