@mollyblackall You need to speak to someone at @firstdraftnews - @cward1e for example. And perhaps @mschenk who also does verification work.

@mollyblackall Creating or debunking?

OK, who’s gonna break it to them that catching and eating ALL the fish in our waters has a pretty significant downside? 😇 twitter.com/alexwickham/st…

@Documentally That’s a good idea!

If @VerriBerriMedia think that an astonishingly rude email telling me my site is “probably perfectly legitimate” is going to get me to remove links on my blog that are perfectly legitimate, so they can charge @ICISOfficial for work I did, they have another think coming.

I love teaching this course. You’ll love being on it.

Go on. Get your boss to treat you for Christmas… 😉 🎅🏻 twitter.com/press_releases…

@sloxham I’m disappointed by that one - I generally expect better of the FT.

@jowadsworth That’s why we need to walk a balanced line. Be clear about what we don’t know, without either unnecessarily stoking fears or downplaying potential risk. (And, to be fair to your neighbour, my immunologist wife wasn’t too concerned back in February either.)

Today is the sort of day when need a lot of journalists to look at their work and think “am I helping people understand the new virus variant, or am I just amplifying their fears?”

Hint: if you’ve used the phrase “mutant virus”, you’re doing the latter.

@charlotteahenry My immunologist other half is spitting blood about that one.

Scoffing at video games editors in 2020 is basically just wilful ignorance at this point: ignorance of cultural impact, ignorance of business significance and so on.

Journalism should always be about being open to new information, not clinging to the prejudices of the past.

Oh, do you remember when we used to go to “coffee shops” and other people would make coffee for us?

Kids today wouldn’t believe that. t.co/GcpABrYdR…

Oh, my. A year before the Brexit vote and the Trump election, I linked to reporting about how Russian misinformation was sowing discord in US communities.

If only people had taken that a lot more seriously. onemanandhisblog.com/2015/08/life-i…

I suppose that I should be working systematically through One Man & His Blog’s archives, upgrading them and correcting problems left over from various platform moves.

But it’s more fun just to chose a random tag — like seashore. onemanandhisblog.com/tag/seashore/
