@benwhitelaw Honestly, was going through a thin patch work-wise, and couldn’t justify the cash.

@katiemoffat Yes, it’s not so much the absolute cost, but the expectation that you pay in one go. It says an awful lot about the organisation that they never considered people might struggle to dump £250 in one go. Slow journalism - for the rich.

@DukesFarmGedd @CaptainBlue @Nigel_Farage Still not an army, just a framework for co-ordination between sovereign armies, in the event that Trump follows through on his threats to withdrawn from NATO: theweek.co.uk/98495/fact-che…

I’m a journalist, and one deeply interested in the future of journalism, and its business models. And I balk at paying £250 a year for Tortoise.

So, who is their market likely to be? tortoisemedia.com/purpose/

@jsprondel Careful, or you’ll be talking about gopher or usenet next.

@katebevan Having the same problem on Facebook right now. Considering reducing my number of friends as a result.

Good piece by James here, pointing out that Assange is a pretty horrible person - but that journalists should probably be defending him against the US charges. The same does not apply to the Swedish rape charges if they’re reopened. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…

@benwhitelaw More seriously, though, the ability to connect up these iterations of thought and experimentation has been sorely lacking in our industry - which is one of the reasons what you folks are doing in capturing and publishing the experiementation you’re facilitating is so important.

@benwhitelaw It’s all cyclical in the end. Being a cycle or two ahead of others is both fun and exciting and useful, but also deeply frustrating.

@benwhitelaw @inma Welcome to the world of “everyone writing about things you wrote about years ago”. I’ve been living here for the past decade or so, and it’s surprisingly comfortable. :-)

@quarkmonkey @bridiepjones There is no Withdrawal Agreement joke I can make here that isn’t utterly tasteless.

Whatever you think about Assange and Wikileaks, his arrest this morning will do nothing to stop the repercussions his actions have had on journalism, politics and internet culture.

We’ve only scratched the surface of the impact so far. onemanandhisblog.com/2019/04/julian…

New post! 👉 onemanandhisblog.com/2019/04/julian… As Julian Assange is arrested, the questions posed by Wikileaks remain as pressing as ever

@fayecwhite @BeesonOnBeer Exactly. It turns out each decision you take opens up a whole set of branching options from there. I’ve had half a dozen “life-defining” moments, that proved to be more malleable than I expected.

@chrismsutcliffe Yes, I was thinking about that very experience when writing that.

@jsprondel @jackwolfskin Oh, you need to explain that, because I am officially fascinated.

My favourite outdoors brand @jackwolfskin has launched a… checks notes …Influencer jacket.

For Influencing in, presumably.
