@rahaeli You’d think.

Sadly, you’d be wrong.

@leebryant @charlesarthur We’re not quite there yet, but I was hoping for an increase on the top end beyond 2TB, because we’re filling it pretty fast…

Something tells me that this tweet was automated… twitter.com/InboxStash/sta…

@stuccatora Currently, yes. What I meant was so many features have migrated from the Pro to the Air, which now has a faster processor, that the next Pro revision should be eye-opening!

Interesting (and worrying analysis): The media has failed with its reporting on meat by @inkcapjournal inkcap.substack.com/p/the-media-ha…

Here’s a thing about #covid19 testing in the UK: I’ve just been invited (for the 3rd time) to take a test by the Kings study. But, like everyone else, I can’t get one. So, another impact of this failure will be the research studies faltering.

Journalists: DO NOT UPGRADE to iOS14 today if your iPhone or iPad is critical to your workflow. Here’s why.

#AppleEvent

onemanandhisblog.com/2020/09/journa…

One thing that makes me sad about the Apple Event: a few years back the Fitness+ announcement would have been a set of APIs to allow fitness providers to work with the Watch, not an Apple Service.

Are all the people who are so uninterested in the #AppleEvent that they’ve had to come to Twitter to tell us that done yet?

Still no Apple Watch support on @ThreeUK, alas. I really hoped this year would be the year. Time to look for a new network.

What the heck is going to differentiate the iPad Pros if the iPad Air has the A14, the new keyboard and Pencil 2?

@chrismsutcliffe I have literally boxes full of 1990s and early 2000s RPG books that went through exactly that journey. Still hoping to get an online D&D group going soon, though.

In today’s missive I have little time for self-interested complaints about engagement metrics - but think that Facebook deserves every bit of stock it gets. onemanandhisblog.com/2020/09/on-eng…

@richardkendall Sky, obvs.

Remember, in the UK, the government can break international law if they find it inconvenient, while its citizens are encouraged to report their neighbours to the police if two families stop to chat in the street.

Welcome to Dystopia Now™.

@sloxham Insta would be easiest for me. While I enjoy it, there’s very little that’s important for me there. WhatsApp is used to co-ordinate and exchange information between parents in my girls’ classes. That would be hard to lose.

@StephenWarwick9 I can’t completely quit for professional reasons, but It going to do my damndest to wipe out personal use.

It is very, very difficult to read this without considering how to minimise or end my #Facebook usage. buzzfeednews.com/article/craigs…

Three interrelated ideas yesterday:

  • LinkedIn as a subscriber acquisition tool
  • Pay to link on Instagram
  • The TikTok “sale”

What they have in common? Enquire within… onemanandhisblog.com/2020/09/linked…

Some evening reading for you: LinkedIn’s renaissance, Instagram contemplates “pay to link”, and the TikTok sale is merely the opening salvo in the algorithm wars.

Don’t have nightmares… 😈

@gsoh31 I had an interesting discussion with a biomedical sciences lecturer this morning. Her theory is that we’ve pretty much run out of available, skilled, trained biomedical scientists that can perform the tests. They just don’t have the trained people they need to scale it up.

This is a spectacular, but sobering, piece of animated short film making: Selfish vimeo.com/333203660

A couple of weeks ago @wnip ran a very negative piece on the prospects for publishers on Apple News+. I disagree, based on the WSJ’s continued commitment to the platform: it will work for publishers - if they understand their content. But most don’t.

@SophieWarnes @ioanna_toufexi @Interhacktives Pretty much. Possibly medium-agnostic. Your job is to find and tell stories, rather than to write stories, specifically. (Or to assist in the telling of stories, etc…)
